WEEKLY MEETINGS

Meetings are held every Saturday from 1PM to 6PM.  We always have snacks and tea available. Feel free to bring some snacks as well (but it’s not required). Listed below are our “special events”.

 

 

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Fundraising events will be scheduled throughout the year. Currently, the proceeds raised will go toward our scholarship fund in order to have the entire group go to the 2014 Port Townsend Writers’ Conference as well as supplies and advertising.

October 5th: “Big Brown Barn Book Sale” from 10AM to 4PM 

 

FIELD TRIPS

July 10-20 2014 (conference): 2014 Port Townsend Writers’ Conference – Ten day conference held at Centrum. They will be offering ten day fiction, poetry, and nonfiction workshops. Registration opens in the fall. Housing option include both private duplexes to dormitories.

 

PAST EVENTS

 

August 21st (board meeting): Impromptu Informal Board Meeting – Board members are encouraged to meet up to discuss the business plan draft and other details. Meeting will be held at the Silverdale Barnes and Noble at 8PM.

August 24th (weekly meeting): Board Games – Participants have created board games based off of the novels that they have written or are currently working on. Presentations and game-play will be held.

August 31st (field trip): Belfair Highland Celtic Festival – Enjoy festivities and check out a different culture.

September 18th: Business Meeting – at Monica’s Bakery from 4:30PM – 6PM

September 21st: Set Up Party for the Book Sale – refreshments available. Bring your book sale items and help us get the barn ready!

September 22nd: “Fall into a Good Book” Sale from 11AM to 5PM at 10239 Old Frontier Road NW – Silverdale, WA

November 3rd: “NaNo-Pajamo” Write-In – Come in comfy pajamas, enjoy a spaghetti dinner, and write ’til your fingers fall off. 🙂

November 9th: “Stone Soup Day” – Bring an ingredient for the soup pot and have a nice warm bowl while you write.

November 23, 2013: “Regular Meeting” at St. Antony’s – Mini-Meeting to coordinate for upcoming events at the beginning of the meeting.

November 30, 2013: WFPS Write-A-Thon! 20-minute word sprint at the beginning of each hour, raffle for prizes, items for purchase (money goes toward conference scholarships), on-site “coroner” to hand out “death certificates” to characters that die during the write-a-thon, food, drinks, snacks, and much more!

December 7th, 2013: WFPS White Elephant Party

January 25th, 2014: WFPS WORKSHOP – Brainstorming and Story Mapping 101 (Lead: Devon and Guy)

February 22nd, 2014: WFPS WORKSHOP – Writing About Relationships And Romance (Lead: Guest Speaker, Sheila Roberts)

March 29th, 2014:  WFPS WORKSHOP – Character development/Dialogue (Lead: Aina and Devon)

April 12th, 2014: BBQ CAMP NANO WRITE-IN – GrillMaster Jake (our VP) will be firing up the barbecue grill for this themed Camp NaNo Write-In. Even if you’re not participating in camp this April, join us for some burgers, dogs, and lots of writing.

April 19th, 2014: PAJAMA & PASTA WRITE-IN  – Come in comfy pajamas, enjoy a pasta dinner, and write ’til your fingers fall off. Bring your laptop, enjoy the free wi-fi, and the pleasant company.

April 26th, 2014:  WRITE-A-THON

WRITE-A-THON: Food, drink, snacks, word-sprints, and lots of words for this last Saturday for Camp NaNo. If you’re not participating in camp, you’re still welcome to come.

May 3rd, 2014: WORKSHOP “Conflict and Suspense” (Lead: Joy)
