Monday Writing Prompt: Staycation

Good afternoon, everyone! How is your Monday? Mine is kicking me in the butt (in typical Monday fashion). But that’s what makes Friday’s so special, am I right?

Okay, today your prompt is as follows:

Write about someone who takes a break from work (a staycation) and unexpectedly goes on an adventure. It doesn’t have to be in a specific genre but it has to have a buffalo, a mason jar full of taffy, and a surprise villain in it.

My favorite prompts are ones that make you think a little bit deeper and make you work a little bit harder. While I like writing to prompts like, “Write about a Granny Smith using all five senses.” (mostly because I’d opt to writing about a grandmother instead of an apple). There is something about quirky prompts that really gets my creative juices flowing.

All right! If you come up with something spectacular, funny, quirky, or interesting that you’d love to share, please post it in the comments section below (if it is short) or post it on your blog and link it back in our comments section. Someone over here will give it a read and comment on it.

In other news, I’m thinking about going back to Dancing Brush (“it’s a paint-your-own-pottery-then-we-will-fire-it-for-you” type of place) and painting another coffee mug with the words “creative juices” on the side. What do you think?

Love, Joy
