Today’s challenge is to choose your own writing adventure this year by picking an event (other than NaNoWriMo, if you already do that every year) from this list. Plan for it and then participate.
One of the best things about NaNoWriMo is that it pushes you to your limit as a writer. You learn best when you are challenged. It also helps you learn as a writer. You learn things like:
“I’m not really a pantser after all.”
“How to tie-up your inner editor in a chair and duct tape her mouth shut for one month.”
“I’m really bad at writing romance novels…”
These things are important in developing who you are as a word-slinger. You learn what works for you and what doesn’t so you can be the most productive. I am well on my way to developing the system that works best for me. Now, just because you find something that works for you, doesn’t mean that it won’t change in the future or that you can’t add to it. Be open-minded.
Now, the challenge is set. Let Writers for Pete’s Sake know what challenge you chose in the comments section below and we will be in your personal cheer squad! Pom poms and all!
Okay, back to the word mines!
